Finally Together

Finally Together

The first 4/13 gathering in what seems like a long time. A great, laid-back evening of light food and oily snacks (yay for Hello Panda!), cool music and cool people talking rot and catching up. It's been shudderingly long since we were actually part of the same class, but memories die hard, and we're still forging new ones together every day. And it's nice to see that some things don't change - like Alma's ditzy-isms! Ha! Ok, I'm not that quick on the uptake either. Email me if you want the rest of the pics!

Rivers, stars and happy things.

OK, I haven't posted for a very long time. There are a number of reasons, but the main thing is sianness and worry over work. There. It's too mundane, dreary and terror-inducing to go into, so I won't.

The reason I am posting now is that a number of nice and happy things happened recently that are worth commemorating. OK lah, not so formal, but you should know what I mean.

Firstly, last Sunday Anlin, Qin and I met up for light lunch and heavy knitting at Boat Quay. Boat Quay! It must be one of my favorite spots in Singapore. OK, definitely in the top 3. I wanted to take photos but the sunlight was blinding (it being 12 noon and all), but it felt good on my pasty lab-skin. I admired Sir Stamford Raffles (white) and meandered around to Raffles Place MRT to meet Qin after parking the car (driving! another pleasure). We then proceeded to Genesis Health Food Restaurant (must promote) at Circular Road, where we had really good scones and toast with alternative kaya made from - you'll never guess - pumpkin! And coconut probably. But it's supposed to be low-fat.

We then went to TCC at Boat Quay to meet Anlin for knitting. The TCC there is really really nice, with beanbag cushions and low coffee tables so you can lounge around, a good thing if you're going to be doing 2-3 hours of knitting straight. And it's pretty quite and not very crowded, so no guilt over table-hopping. Nice drinks too, though expensive. It was really fun to be so crafty, and it feels good to knit for a friend too! A worthy, quirky friend who triple-majored in physics, psychology and philosophy, who told me to just look at the stars, and I'll realize that the petty, silly issues I get worked up over are just... too small to bother with. I do look at the stars now, every time I walk outdoors at night.

I also finally managed to meet up with my independent friend, last night, in a super out-of-the-blue, spur-of-the-moment outing. Ha. Sometimes spontaneity is better. Two sides of the mobile phenomenon, and all that jazz. =) But it was really fun. We watched a movie which was... good, and thought-provoking. More on that at another time! Waha.

5 Simple Pleasures in Life

I've been tagged to write about 5 simple pleasures I find in life. Hmm. Ahh... Actually it's good to be reminded of simple pleasures at a time when it seems you'll never have a free moment, let alone feel pleasure again... Sigh, so dramatic. Hahahah... Well, updates, it's Week 0 of my study. Week 0 because it's the work before the experimental intervention can actually start! *pathetic face* Heehee. I realized my response to stress is totally silly, I get really worked up and kan cheong over little details, and I feel like I'm going to die. My colleague who is working on the same project as I am had to whack me on the back and say, "Relax! It's just a study. NO ONE IS GOING TO DIE!"

Right, well. Hmm.

Ok, 5 simple pleasures in life! I'll write about the recent things I've experienced, cos I really do enjoy simple pleasures and it's not just 5 for me!

1. Walking my dogs on a cool, breezy night and looking at the stars after goodness-knows-how-long.

2. Meeting up with friends to talk cock sing song, eat ice cream or watch dvd's.

3. Eating hot, well-cooked, yummy food.

4. Playing cards with my family

5. Watching TV with my family.

Hmm, I wanna get into some simple pleasures now, like namely, ReversO ice cream from Island Creamery!!!! Woot!

I tag zyn and dio and sweetpotato.
